Department of Patient Financial Services is responsible for assisting patients with matters concerning Howard University Hospital Accounts.

Patient Financial Services Mission Statement

The mission of Howard University Hospital's Patient Financial Services Department is to effectively, efficiently and equitably bill the charges agreed upon by this institution to patients and/or third party payors and to collect remitted payments in a timely and accurate fashion. Patients and their representative will be treated with fairness, professionalism and compassion, regardless of ability to pay.

Financial Assistance Plans and Programs

Patients who cannot afford to pay for medically necessary care may apply for financial assistance from Howard University Hospital under our Financial Assistance Policy. We encourage patients needing financial assistance to contact the Financial Counseling Office at (202) 865-3510.
