About Raymond Young

Raymond K. Young II, MD, FACC, FASE, is a native Washingtonian and board-certified non-invasive cardiologist with Howard University Faculty Practice Plan and Adventist HealthCare. He earned his medical degree at Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed his residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Young completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Medstar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University.

Prior to joining Howard University Faculty Practice Plan and Adventist HealthCare, Dr. Young served in several roles at MedStar Health, including as the regional cardiology department physician quality liaison, the regional medical director of the ambulatory echocardiogram, and the clinical co-director of the pulmonary hypertension program. He also was an assistant professor of medicine for the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Young is a member of the American Heart Association, Pulmonary Hypertension Association and the American Society of Echocardiography. He will serve as the medical director of the cardiac service line & cardiovascular ICU at Howard University Hospital. His professional interests include improving quality metrics, community outreach and medical education.

Dr. Young focuses on improving the health of all patients with cardiovascular disease. He strongly believes that demonstrating kindness, empathy and at times a paternalistic approach is key to establishing a solid healthcare alliance with patients.
