The primary services offered are general dentistry and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dental hygiene services and limited orthodontic services are also available. Core services include:

The Department of Dentistry has played an integral part in the total health care for persons seeking dental care in a hospital environment since 1968. The department is a member of the professional health care team at Howard University Hospital that provides for the total well-being of our patients.

- Comprehensive evaluation and treatment planning, including oral cancer screenings.
- Treatment of medically compromised patients, including organ transplant patients and pre and post-surgical radiation oral cancer patients.
- Treatment of temporomandibular joint disease (TMD).
- Jaw reconstruction for trauma, oral pathology and age-related disorders.
- Treatment of congenital or developmental jaw deformities and surgical realignment of the facial skeleton.
- Treatment of oral pathology.
- Extractions of teeth, including impacted third molars (wisdom teeth).
Implants and cosmetic dentistry services.
- Outpatient general anesthesia, intravenous (IV) sedation and nitrous oxide sedation. Comprehensive general dentistry services, including restorative, periodontics, crown, bridge and dentures.
- Treatment of mentally and physically challenged patients.
