It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as President of the Howard University Hospital Medical and Dental Staff for the last two years. This is a challenging yet exciting time in healthcare and the successes that await us shall rest firmly on the focus and commitment of healthcare providers and administrators alike to ensure the highest standard of patient care despite the rising costs of health care delivery. This is a team effort requiring the alignment of the stakeholders core values with the mission of the organization in the background of mutual accountability and creative, “out of the box” innovation. We must focus on patient safety and customer satisfaction by creating and maintaining operational processes that are effective but user-friendly. The Howard University Hospital Medical Staff is committed to this task. We see the future of our hospital as a bright one and our loyalty remains unwavering.

Vice President of Medical Staff Office

Shelly McDonald-Pinkett is the Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine and Chief of General Internal Medicine. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed her residency at Howard University Hospital.

Dr. McDonald-Pinkett is currently the president-elect of the Medical Staff and expects to commence her term in July of 2008.
