Welcome to the Department of Radiology.
We provide excellence in patient care, education and research at Howard University. We strive to be the best in the greater Washington DC area.
The Department of Radiology provides diagnostic imaging services to patients of all age groups, from newborn to geriatric, inpatient as well as ambulatory patients. The department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is under the direct supervision of a board-certified radiologist who works closely with the specially trained radiologic technologists in performing each imaging procedure. The department is staffed with registered technologists, many of whom are registered in multiple imaging modalities.
We offer a team approach to patient care. View our current team.
For our medical and allied health students we provide multiple avenues of exposure to and education in Radiology (view medical student resources now). We are also very active in first and second year medical student education. For the Howard University medical trainees in other specialties (medicine, surgery, neurology, endocrine, pulmonary, nephrology, obstetrics & gyncecology, rheumatology, cardiology) we provide dedicated interactive joint imaging teaching conferences.
For our Research partners we offer access to our expertise and state-of-the art imaging clinical imaging infrastructure, as well as to the Molecular Imaging Laboratory. Learn more about the Radiology Research Group (RRG).

The Howard University Hospital radiology department is accredited by the FDA as a Certified Mammography Facility, and mammography equipment was inspected and approved by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR also accredited Howard for OB, Gynecological & General ultrasound Services. We are planning voluntary accreditation of CT and MRI services.
