Thank you for choosing the Department of Health Sciences and Management in the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at Howard University. The Department offers the Bachelor of Health Sciences in Health Sciences in Health Management. The goal of the Health Management Program is to nurture academic excellence and produce African American and other diverse middle and executive health leaders prepared to face the challenges of managing and organizing public and private health care delivery services for the 21st century.
The strategic location of Howard University in the nation’s capital presents a compelling context for earning an interdisciplinary four-year made of 120 credit hours baccalaureate degree framed by evidence-based, patient-centered interdisciplinary hybrid didactic and practical health management internship curriculum in healthcare delivery services and administration. As fully certified by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA), the Program offers you the opportunity to join the significant number of African American and diverse mangers employed in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, managed care, physician offices, long-term care, nursing homes and home care services as well as insurance, pharmaceutical and health consultation agencies. Moreover, offering lifelong opportunities to enrich and expand health career foundations for our alumni pursuing graduate education such as master and doctorate degrees in public health and business administration, as well as investment-owned entrepreneurships, continues to be one of our unique goals in multidisciplinary health care and business management hybrid curriculum.
Our distinguished faculty, students and administration work closely with different departments of allied health professions, as well as Howard University Health Sciences Schools and Colleges in an integrated culturally rich teaching and learning, research and service environment dedicated to address equal access to quality health care delivery services which will focus on eliminating health disparities in underrepresented and diverse populations worldwide. The Program recruits first time in college as well as transfers students from colleges and schools at Howard University and accredited colleges and universities nationally and internationally.
