Neurology Chair to be Honored for Work with Concussions
WASHINGTON -- Dr. Annapurni
Jayam Trouth, professor and chair of the Department of Neurology at Howard
University College of Medicine and Howard University Hospital will be honored
June 5 for her support of Student Athletes for Educational Opportunities, Inc.
(SAFEO), a Washington-based non-profit membership organization that supports
and assits the academic, civic, health and career goals of Washington-area
youth, particularly student athletes.
Trouth and Gerard A. Gioia, Ph.D., the director of the Safe Concussion Outcome,
Recover and Education Program at Children's National Medical Center; Dr. Michael
R. Yochelson, vice president of Medical Affairs at MedStar National Rehabilitation,
and Dr. Kevin Crutchfield, director of the Comprehensive Sports Concussion
Program and Cerebrovascular Physiology Labs at the Sandra and Malcolm Berman
Brain and Spine Institute, will be honored for their work with concussions
during a SAFEO fund-raiser in support of the "I Promise" Concussion
Awareness Campaign from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Capitol Skyline Hotel located
at 10 I Street SW, Washington, D.C.
Following the game, participants can go directly to the 7 p.m. game between
the Washington Nationals and the New York Mets, which is a 10-minute walk away.
